What samba adds to canasta
A samba is seven cards in sequence in one suit, such as the four through the ten of hearts. It is worth 1,500, and wild cards are never used in one.
A bolivia is a canasta made of seven wild cards, worth 2,500.
Ordinary canastas still count as they do in canasta: 500 natural, 300 mixed.
Red threes are 100 each and 1,000 for all six. Black threes count minus 100 each if you are caught holding them.
Going out
Going out adds 100, and many groups require a samba plus at least one other canasta before you may do it at all.
The game is usually played to 10,000, which is why it runs longer than canasta and why a running total column matters.
The opening meld still climbs
As in canasta, your first meld each hand has to reach a minimum that rises with your score, running from 15 up to 150.
The full ladder is printed on the reference sheet.
Large print
Check the large print box when you customize and the scoring grid comes out with noticeably bigger type and taller rows, which most people find easier to read across a table.
The grid is what grows. Reference panels and the fine print stay at their normal size, so nothing gets squeezed off the page, and the sheet still holds a sensible number of rounds.
