How Mexican Train scoring works

When a player goes out, or the game blocks, everyone else counts the pips still on their rack. That count is their score for the round.

Points are penalties, so the lowest total after all thirteen rounds wins.

Rounds run from the double twelve down through the double blank, which is thirteen rounds with a double twelve set.

How many tiles to deal

Two to four players take fifteen tiles each. Five or six players take twelve. Seven or eight players take ten.

That table is printed on the sheet, because it is the thing people look up every time the group size changes.

House rules worth agreeing first

Many groups score the double blank as 25 or 50 rather than zero, and some count all doubles at twice their pip value.

The sheet has check boxes for both, so the table settles it once and the sheet remembers.

Large print

Check the large print box when you customize and the scoring grid comes out with noticeably bigger type and taller rows, which most people find easier to read across a table.

The grid is what grows. Reference panels and the fine print stay at their normal size, so nothing gets squeezed off the page, and the sheet still holds a sensible number of rounds.
