How a Bunco night works

Twelve players sit at three tables of four, partners opposite. Each round has a target number from one to six.

Roll three dice and score a point for every die showing the round's number. Keep rolling while you keep scoring.

Three of the round's number is a Bunco, worth twenty-one, and it ends the round. Three of any other number is a mini Bunco, worth five.

The head table plays to twenty-one and rings the bell. Every table stops where it is, winners move up toward the head table, and losers stay and switch partners.

Six rounds make a set, and most groups play four sets in an evening.

Why a kit rather than one sheet

A Bunco night is a hosting job as much as a game. Somebody has to print twelve cards, set out three tables, remember the prize categories and collect the kitty.

The hostess sheet carries the guest list, the prize list and a setup checklist, so whoever is hosting this month is not rebuilding it from memory.

Because the hostess usually rotates monthly, one download gets printed many times by many different people in the same group.

The prizes

Most groups award most Buncos, most wins, most losses and the last Bunco of the night, and many add a travelling prize that moves on each month.

That is why the player card has separate tally boxes for Buncos, mini Buncos, wins and losses rather than one running score. The prizes are judged on the tallies.
